We, the Jimdo GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “Jimdo” or “we”) via this Privacy Policy wish to hereby inform Visitors to this websites as to the purpose, type and extent of the processing of personal information that takes place via this website. The responsible body for this data processing within the meaning of the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) is the Jimdo GmbH, Stresemannstrasse 375, 22761 Hamburg, Germany (privacy@jimdo.com).

This website is solely intended for use by Jimdo Employees. Should any employee take advantage of the Jimdo Academy offer on this website, the Jimdo Employee Privacy Policy necessarily applies to all further data processing. This Policy is available from the People Team. 

Usage of Personal Data

We collect, process and use personal data (in accordance with the definitions of the German Federal Data Processing Law) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in order to provide our Jimdo Academy Information services. 

Data Retention

Any data processed when using this website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for its storage ceases to exist or has been fulfilled, provided the deletion of the same is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations or unless otherwise stipulated below.

Server Logs

When you visit this website, the Jimdo server automatically saves the information that your browser sends whenever you visit that site. This information includes your request, IP address, browser type and language, and the date and time of your request.

All of the above information is used for analyzing and maintaining the technical operation of the Jimdo servers and network as well as assisting our anti-abuse measures as a whole, pursuant to Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our websites. Log-Information is automatically deleted after 7 days.

Contact Form/ Event Registration

If you contact us via the contact form or register your interest for an event, the data you provide will be used for the purpose of processing your request. The legal basis for this data processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR. All data provided will be deleted once we have fully addressed your request and no further legal obligation to store this data exists.

Important Note regarding data processing in connection with Google Analytics™

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited. If the responsible body for the data processing that occurs via this website has their basis outside of the European Economic area and Switzerland, then the associated Google Analytics data processing is carried out by Google LLC. Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. will hereinafter be referred to as “Google”. As concerns the use of Google Analytics, the data processing in this respect is technically provided by Jimdo. In that regard, reference is hereby made to the Jimdo Privacy Policy. Jimdo GmbH (Jimdo GmbH, Stresemannstrasse 375, 22761 Hamburg, Datenschutz@jimdo.com) and the operator of this website share a joint responsibility for the data processing in connection with Google Analytics on this website.

Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files saved on the site visitor’s computer, to help the website analyze their use of the site. The information generated by the cookie (including the truncated ip address) about the use of the website will normally be transmitted to and stored by Google.

Google Analytics is used exclusively with the extension "_anonymizeIp ()" on this website. This extension ensures an anonymization of the IP address by truncation and excludes a direct personal reference. Via this extension Google truncates the site visitor’s IP address within member states of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The IP address, that is provided by the site visitor’s browser in using Google Analytics will not be merged by Google with other data from Google.

On behalf of Jimdo, Google will use the information collected to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other website and internet related services to Jimdo (Art. 6 (1)( f) GDPR). The legitimate interest in data processing lies in the optimization of this website, the analysis of the use of the website and the adaptation of the content, which is made possible by the provision of the Jimdo statistics function. The interests of the users are adequately protected by the pseudonymization of their data.

Google LLC has certified their compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework and thereby provides a guarantee to comply with European data protection law. The data sent and linked to the Google Analytics cookies, e.g. user IDs or advertising IDs will be automatically deleted after 50 months. The deletion of data whose retention period has been reached is carried out automatically, once a month. The website visitor may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in their browser. They can also object to the future collection and storage of their ip address and the data generated by cookies, at any time via downloading this browser plugin and installing it: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout The website visitor can prevent data collection via Google Analytics on this website by clicking here. An "Opt-out Cookie" shall then be applied which shall prevent any future collection of the site visitors data when visiting this website.

On this, and all Jimdo website, Jimdo uses the services of LaunchDarkly, Catamorphic Co., 405 14th Street, Oakland, CA 94612, USA). LaunchDarkly allows Jimdo to analyze errors and create crash reports in connection with Jimdo websites.

LaunchDarkly has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield and thus guarantees that the website visitor's data will be treated according to the regulations of the DSGVO: https://launchdarkly.com/policies/privacy-shield-notice/

The legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1)(f). DSGVO, whereby our legitimate interest lies in the error-free technical provision of our website.

Rights of the Data Subjects

(i.e. website Visitor or Jimdo Site Visitor, hereinafter referred to collectively as “website Visitor”)

According to the relevant legislation, including the GDPR, the website Visitor and site visitors have certain rights in relation to their personal data that is processed by Jimdo. In particular, they have a right to information, correction, transferability or deletion of their data. The website Visitor also has the right to object to certain processing of their data.

Right to Object

Insofar as the website Visitor’s or site visitor’s data is collected on the basis of Jimdo’s legitimate interests (Article 6(1) (f) GDPR, the website Visitor/site visitor may object to the future processing of their data in accordance with Article 21 GDPR at any time, for the future via a simple email to that effect sent to privacy@jimdo.com.  If the website Visitor makes use of his right to object, Jimdo will stop the processing of the data concerned. However, further processing is reserved if we can demonstrate compelling legitimate reasons for the processing that outweighs the interests of the website Visitor, their fundamental rights and freedoms, or if the processing serves the purpose of asserting, exercising or defending legal claims. If Jimdo is asked to cease all or any part of the processing of the personal information, or if the website Visitor revokes his consent (if any) to the use or disclosure of their personal information for purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, Jimdo may cease to be able to provide all Jimdo services to the website Visitor.

The website Visitor also has the right to object to the processing personal data that is used for statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89 (1) GDPR for reasons that arise from their particular situation via a simple email to that effect sent to privacy@jimdo.com.

Exercising your Rights

Where the website Visitor exercises their legal right to access, correction or deletion of their personal information, Jimdo may, under certain circumstances in particular where legally obliged to so, refuse to provide such information or refuse to correct or delete your personal information. However, Jimdo will give the reasons in these cases.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, the website Visitor has the right to lodge a complaint with a relevant supervisory authority in accordance with Article 77 GDPR, in particular in the Member State of the user’s place of residence, place of work or place of alleged infringement, if the website Visitor is of the opinion that the processing of his personal data has not occurred in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR.

Data Security

The website Visitor’s information is protected by the Jimdo technical and organizational security measures to minimize risks associated with their loss, misuse, unauthorized access, unauthorized disclosure and alteration of their and all users data. For example, we use firewalls and data encryption, as well as physical access restrictions for our data centers and data access authorization controls.

Jimdo reserves the right to change this privacy policy should this be necessary due to a change in legislation or as a result of further or changed services used or offered by Jimdo on this website. The current version can always be located on this page.
